Charlotte Middleton
Chief Risk Officer
HSBC Bank Australia

Charlotte Middleton has been Chief Risk Officer of HSBC Bank Australia since January 2012.

In this role, Charlotte Middleton is responsible for Wholesale & Market Risk, Retail Risk, Operational Risk, Compliance and Security & Fraud, across the bank’s Australian business. She is a member of HSBC Australia’s Executive Committee, Chair of the Risk Management Committee and member of the Board and Audit and Risk Committee for HSBC Bank Australia.

Having joined a decade ago, she has held senior relationship management roles within Corporate and Institutional teams, before moving into a senior Wholesale Risk role in 2007. The subsequent move to the role of Head of Strategy & Planning for HSBC Bank Australia in 2009 provided a bank wide perspective on strategy and key issues.

Charlotte Middleton has a Bachelor of Economics degree from the Australian National University (ANU) and over 20 years of banking experience primarily on the wholesale banking side. Previously, she held front line and credit roles within Macquarie Bank, ABN AMRO London and ANZ.

On the ‘work – life’ front, as well as family time, she enjoys fitting in a few runs each week and is hoping to keep up with the best of her HSBC colleagues at a race later this year.
