Julie Flynn
Chief Executive Officer
Free TV Australia

Julie Flynn is the Chief Executive Officer of Free TV Australia, the industry body that represents Australia’s commercial television licensees.

Julie has led Free TV since 2001 and guided the industry through its transition from analogue to digital services with a clear focus on the commercial and regulatory impacts of a rapidly changing media environment.

In her time as CEO, Free TV has driven the public policy debate on the need for regulatory reform including reduced licence fees and a modern regulatory framework that recognises that broadcasters are now competing against global players who are unregulated and pay virtually no tax in Australia.

Julie joined Free TV after a distinguished career as a political journalist and media executive. Julie is a Walkley Award Winner and a former President of the Canberra Press Gallery.

For the last decade Julie has been a member of the Ronald McDonald Charities Board. She has also been a member of the National Breast and Ovarian Cancer Centre Board, the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Advisory Board, the Public Service Medal Committee and the Walkley Awards Advisory Panel.
